How to play Lineup Clubs
Lineup Clubs is the daily team-building game with clubs: every day eleven clubs line up — the same for the whole world — and you field one player who turned out for each into the eleven slots of a 4-3-3. Same mechanic as Lineup by countries, with a different source list.
The rules, in 30 seconds
- Check the queue. The eleven clubs show up with crests, in the order they will be played, all visible from the start.
- Name a player from the club up — type and pick a name from the list.
- The slot comes from the position. A centre-back takes a centre-back slot; a goalkeeper, the only goalkeeper slot.
- Fill all eleven. If the slots left do not fit the clubs left, the day ends right there.
Any spell, from any era
The game does not ask who plays for the club: it asks who played for it. Ronaldo counts for Barcelona, Inter and Real Madrid; Ibrahimović counts for half of Europe. Loans count — the career data does not separate a loan from a permanent deal, and refusing a spell the source cannot tell apart would mean refusing a true fact.
The formation, slot by slot
It is 1 goalkeeper, 2 centre-backs, 2 full-backs, 3 midfielders, 2 wingers and 1 forward. Goalkeeper and forward have one slot each: use the forward on the first club and the last one in the queue may only bring forwards to mind — then the side closes with ten.
Three strategies that work
- Solve the goalkeeper early. There is one slot, and it is usually the first to run out — the keeper is the hardest position to recall club by club.
- Save the big clubs for last. Real Madrid, Milan or Flamengo can fill whatever slot is left; a mid-table club cannot.
- Think of the journeymen. A player who moved six times is the key to six different clubs — and you can only use him once.
When the day ends
Fill the eleven slots and you win the day. If the remaining slots fit no club left in the queue, the game says so right away — and shows a lineup that worked. And if you get stuck you can raise the white flag: it ends the day, counts as a loss and reveals the answer.
Frequently asked questions
What time does the side of the day change?
At midnight, in your device local time. Everyone plays the same eleven clubs on the same day.
Is my progress saved?
It is, in your own browser — and separate from the other games, including Lineup by countries: each one has its own stats and streak.
Why is the crest generic?
Because no official crest is used on the site: the vector is ours, painted with the club colours, and the name appears by nominative use.
Is there a version by countries?
There is: Lineup, with eleven countries instead of clubs. And Lineup América, with South American clubs only.
